Jennifer Hooper brings 30 years of private and public sector sustainability experience to the ASI team. Jennifer has extensive experience in the manufacturing, chemical and mining sectors, holding senior executive positions in climate change, sustainability and health and safety. Her global experience includes work in Brazil, Mozambique, Indonesia, the United States, Europe and New Caledonia. Her experience in the public sector includes holding senior positions in both the Ministry of Environment and Ministry of Labour in the Ontario government. Jennifer holds a B.A Sc in Chemical Engineering from the University of Waterloo and an M.A Sc Civil (Environmental) Engineering from Queens University.
Former Executive Director, Pembina Institute
Ed Whittingham is a passionate, results-oriented environmental professional. His background in climate change, energy policy and corporate sustainability has been developed through 20 years of working collaboratively with companies, governments, universities and non-governmental organizations in Canada and internationally. He is the former executive director of the Pembina Institute, Canada’s widely respected energy/environment NGO.

A seasoned sustainability leader and Clean50 honouree, Nadine led corporate sustainability strategy, partnership development and employee engagement initiatives for sustainable business pioneer, Interface Inc. for over ten years. Currently completing her Ph.D. in sustainability education and organizational change, she’s Faculty for the Graduate Certificate program in Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability at St. Michael’s College, University of Toronto. Nadine is a LEED accredited professional who has served on the Boards of the National Zero Waste Council, US Green Building Council Education Advisory Committee and Canadian Business for Social Responsibility.
Jenn loves helping social values-driven organizations to advance environmental and climate justice projects that create positive change. As a Principal at Highwatermark Strategy and Communications, Jenn works with a diverse range of not-for-profits, businesses, and agencies to advance their efforts to conserve nature, tackle the impacts of a changing climate, and address natural and human-caused disasters. Jenn has over twenty-five years of experience in fundraising, strategic and operational planning, program management, and communications. She holds a Master of Education from the University of Victoria and is currently pursuing a Master in Disaster and Emergency Management from Royal Roads University.

Rebecca Black leads boutique consultancy Black Current, co-creating communications and design solutions that address the climate crisis with a range of international clients. Rebecca relishes strategic design problems, creative branding and communication challenges, and the opportunity to build teams and campaigns that create a more sustainable future. She is Co-Founder of Women in Renewable Energy WiRE and Director at TREC Renewable Energy incubator. Rebecca holds a Master of Environmental Studies specializing in Business & Sustainability (York University), and a Master of Design in Strategic Foresight & Innovation (OCADU).
Manager, Strategic Marketing & Communications
Yana Korytek is a result-oriented communications professional, with a passion for environment, corporate social responsibility, and climate action. Yana is a partner at Black Current, a strategic design company committed to co-creating a sustainable future, where she tackles strategic business problems, leads innovative design, and crafts empowering stories. She brings 10 years experience of delivering creative engagement strategies for national and global brands using insights and experience drawn from a dynamic combination of human-centred design thinking, marketing strategy, and public relations.
Research & Programs Support Officer
Joanna Sugunathazan is a sustainability professional with experience coordinating environmental and social initiatives across public, private and non-profit sectors. She is skilled in project management, stakeholder engagement and research, and holds specialized knowledge of corporate sustainability, urban planning, environmental assessment and green building practices. As a recent graduate of the Environment and Business program at the University of Waterloo, Joanna is eager to contribute her unique lens and diverse skills to advancing the transition to a low-carbon, socially inclusive economy.
