The Academy for Sustainable Innovation (ASI) and Green Economy Canada are partnering to deliver a series of climate resilience workshops for small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in New Brunswick.
Delivered in collaboration with the University of New Brunswick’s Pond-Deshpande Centre Green Horizons Initiative and three regional Chambers of Commerce: the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce, the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Moncton, and the Saint John Region Chamber of Commerce, the in-person workshops form part of ASI’s overarching Climate Resilience for SMEs program.
Climate Resilience for SMEs is designed for Chambers of Commerce, Business Improvement Associations (BIAs), and Boards of Trade that want to better support the businesses in their networks as they navigate climate-related risks and opportunities. ASI works directly with partner organizations to develop a customized eLearning course and deliver an in-person workshop that can be offered as a value-added service to members.
The goal of the program is to help local business owners gain a clearer understanding of how climate impacts can affect their operations, employees, and bottom line, while showcasing locally relevant case studies and actions businesses can take to build resilience.
As part of the partnership, Green Economy Canada’s New Brunswick Hub will play a key role in supporting the climate mitigation component of the workshops. Green Economy Canada is known as a leader in helping Canadian SMEs reduce their emissions, save money, and build stronger climate resiliency. They will draw on their regional knowledge and experience working directly with NB-based businesses, and will be able to support local SMEs to advance their climate mitigation plans after the workshop.
