We aim for our courses to be engaging and empowering, regardless of whether they’re hosted online or in-person. Our course instructors are deeply experienced sustainability practitioners and learning experts.

Climate Action for Non-Profit Leaders

Format: Online

Cost: $120

Duration: 4 weeks

Dates: January 18 – Februrary 8, 2024

Learner Hours: 8 hours

Synchronous Sessions: Jan 18, Jan 25, Feb 1, Feb 8

Synchronous Time: 10 – 11:30 a.m. PT / 1 – 2:30 p.m. ET

Hosted in partnership with the Ontario Nonprofit Network, learning outcomes include:

  • Gain insights into climate change and its far-reaching implications.
  • Learn how to lead and think systematically to bring about change.
  • Explore case studies to help you set inspiring goals for the future.
  • Identify actionable strategies to implement within your non-profit organization.

    The primary audience is for non-profit leaders who are members of the Ontario Nonprofit Network, or based in Ontario. However, a limited number of spaces are available for other non-profit leaders from across Canada.

    Collaborative Leadership for Climate Action

    Format: Online (mostly asynchronous, with weekly live discussion sessions)

    Cost: $750

    Duration: 4 weeks

    Dates: November 6, 2023 – December 3, 2023

    Learner Hours: 25 hours

    Synchronous Sessions: November 8, 15, 22, 29

    Synchronous Time: 9 – 10:30 am PT / 12 – 1:30 pm ET

    Learning Outcomes:

    • Critically explore the implications for a just transition to positive climate futures;
    • Examine new frameworks and approaches for engaging stakeholders and communities;
    • Identify collective leadership capabilities needed for transitioning toward positive climate futures;
    • Reflect on the role of power, diversity and inclusion in taking collaborative climate action;
    • Consider nature as a model, mentor and source of insight in fostering cooperative relationships;
    • Apply the concept of biomimicry to a collaborative leadership challenge; and
    • Re-examine their own leadership roles as learners, collaborators, convenors and facilitators.

      Introduction to Transition Leadership

      Learning Outcomes:

      • Conceptualize modes of leadership for sustainability transitions and climate action;
      • Understand the importance of learning as an act of leadership;
      • Reflect on the role of power and the conditions conducive to an inclusive leadership approach;
      • Explore transition pathways approaches to dialogue about possible futures; and
      • Consider their role as a reflective practitioner and the value of cultivating personal resilience.
