The Academy for Sustainable Innovation (ASI) is proud to announce the launch of a new online course created for the BC Non-Profit Housing Association (BCNPHA).
Available starting today, the course is designed to help housing professionals understand the science behind climate change, identify and the top climate-related risks to community housing, and explore practical strategies to strengthen the resilience of non-profit housing organizations and the communities they serve.
With over 600 members across the province, BCNPHA represents housing providers on the front lines of the climate crisis. These organizations play a vital role in delivering safe, stable, and affordable housing to vulnerable communities while facing growing climate risks.
Developed in collaboration with BCNPHA, BC Housing, and Aboriginal Housing Management Association, with financial support from BC Housing and Co-operators, the course equips housing providers with tools to address climate risks affecting buildings, residents, and operations. It covers climate adaptation, mitigation, and resilience, with a focus on maintaining high-quality living conditions as pressures from climate change increase.
This tailored course is part of a broader effort to equip key sectors with tools to lead through change. BCNPHA’s online course will strengthen climate readiness in a sector that serves some of BC’s most climate-vulnerable populations.
BC’s housing professionals are encouraged to sign up here: https://bcnpha.ca/event/climate-change-resilience-2025/
We especially appreciated the care they put into learning about our sector and integrating knowledge in a way that honored the diverse perspectives across the province. They coordinated multiple project partners and brought together many informed viewpoints into a course that feels unified, accessible, and purposeful.
ASI was thoughtful about who our learners are and ensured the content would make sense for them. It was a great collaboration, and we would absolutely recommend working with the Academy for Sustainable Innovation to other organizations looking to educate their members or communities about the impacts of climate change within their own sectors.
